Welcome to the Kalcheim Research Group at the Technion!

We explore the basic physics of quantum materials and harness their unique properties for hardware-level neuromorphic computing applications.

Quantum materials are a large family of materials in which electro-electron interactions play a major role in determining electronic, structural and magnetic properties. They exhibit a plethora of phenomena such as metal-insulator transitions, spin/charge ordering, high TC superconductivity, structural phase transitions and more. We aim to understand the basic physics of these materials and manipulate them in novel ways in order to tune their properties and develop novel functionalities for applications. We currently focus on quantum materials which exhibit intrinsics biomimetic properties in order to develop neuromorphic devices in the emerging field of hardware-level neural networks.
